Awin is an affiliate marketing platform that connects advertisers with publishers and records qualifying activity generated through tracked promotions. Publishers can use their account to review transactions, dispute certain reporting discrepancies, manage payment information, and trace commission after it reaches the payable stage.
This independent guide is not affiliated with or operated by Awin.
A missing sale and a missing payment are not the same problem. A sale that never appears in the Transactions report requires a tracking or transaction-query investigation; commission already marked payable requires a payment-history check.
What Awin does
Awin provides affiliate tracking, reporting, advertiser relationships, and publisher payment administration. A publisher promotes a participating advertiser, while Awin records attributed activity and reports the resulting transaction to the parties involved.
The process has several distinct stages:
- The publisher joins Awin.
- An advertiser accepts the publisher into its program.
- A tracked action appears as a transaction.
- The advertiser validates, amends, or declines it.
- Approved commission moves toward payable status.
- Awin creates a publisher payment when the account conditions are met.
Do not jump directly from “a customer ordered” to “Awin should have paid.” The transaction may not have tracked, may still be under review, or may not yet be payable.
Use the real Awin login route
Awin’s US site provides the official entry points for existing users and new publisher applicants. The publisher signup form is hosted within Awin’s platform, while current account access should begin through Awin’s own site rather than an independent login directory.
Check the domain before entering account information.
Awin’s Partner Success Center is a separate support environment. It contains guidance for publisher accounts, transaction reports, payment details, and troubleshooting, but it is not the main working dashboard.
Use the platform for account activity. Use the support center to interpret a status or open an official help route.
Check the Transactions report first
Awin’s current Transactions report contains transactions of any status and supports filtering by status, partner, timeframe, and transaction type. The documented report route is Reports > Performance > Transactions in the newer help materials.
Older Partner Success documentation refers to Reports > Transactions, so the exact menu arrangement may depend on the account interface being displayed.
Start with a narrow search:
- Set the correct date range.
- Select the relevant advertiser.
- Search by transaction ID or order reference when available.
- Include pending, approved, and declined activity.
- Check whether the transaction date or validation date is controlling the report.
Awin’s newer report allows the user to base results on Transaction Date, Validation Date, or Amendment Date. Choosing the wrong date basis can make a valid record appear absent.
That is a real friction. Fix the filter before reporting a missing sale.
Open the transaction detail
Clicking the value displayed in the Sale Amount column opens a detailed transaction breakdown, including the commission groups applied to that record.
This view can explain why commission differs from a simple percentage of the customer’s order total. Different products or transaction components may be assigned to different commission groups.
The report also supports exports. Awin’s current documentation describes CSV and Excel options for reviewing transaction data outside the platform.
Use an export when several records must be reconciled. Skip manual copying across dozens of transactions.
A downloaded report may also contain a publisher_url field showing the website where a sale originated. Awin notes that this field can be blank when the feature is not enabled or the required data was not passed correctly.
What counts as a missing sale?
A transaction should be treated as missing only after the relevant report has been checked with the correct advertiser, dates, status settings, and identifiers.
A customer saying that an order was placed does not by itself prove the transaction should be attributed to a particular publisher. Tracking can be affected by attribution rules, the promotional path, advertiser implementation, or whether the activity met the program terms.
Awin provides a Transaction Queries process for certain discrepancies. Its official documentation says the tool may be used to address untracked sales, incorrect commission, and transactions that a publisher believes were incorrectly declined.
Use the correct query type:
- Untracked for a sale that does not appear
- Incorrect for a commission discrepancy
- Declined for a disputed rejection
Do not use a missing-sale query merely because commission remains pending or approved. Those transactions already exist in reporting.
How Awin Transaction Queries work
Publishers with access to the Transaction Queries tool can reach it through Support > Queries > Transaction Queries. Awin supports single manual uploads, batch CSV uploads, and scheduled FTP uploads for higher-volume workflows.
The tool is intended for publishers that have access to sufficient order information and need to handle transaction discrepancies. Access may require contacting Awin’s Partner Success Team.
Awin states that advertisers have 75 days to review and amend transaction queries. It also says new queried transactions appear in reports only after approval, and the transaction-query window expires after four years.
That timing changes the practical expectation. Submitting a query does not create immediate commission.
Provide the required transaction information accurately. Skip speculative claims or incomplete submissions, since the advertiser needs enough data to identify and review the alleged transaction.
Order reference versus Awin transaction ID
Awin’s transaction report uses separate identifiers.
The transaction id is Awin’s unique identifier for the record. The advertiser’s order reference comes from the advertiser or commerce system and may use a different format.
Do not assume the numbers must match.
When discussing an existing transaction, use the Awin transaction ID shown in the report and the available advertiser order reference. When reporting an untracked sale, follow Awin’s query requirements and use the order information requested by the tool.
Never include full customer payment credentials or authentication information. They are unnecessary for transaction reconciliation.
Pending, approved, and payable
Awin’s status documentation separates the major commission stages:
Pending review: The transaction was tracked and awaits advertiser validation.
Approved: The advertiser accepted the transaction as valid, but its commission is not ready to be paid.
Payable: The commission is ready for payment and can be included in the next payment run.
Approved is not payable.
This is the first status to check when someone says, “Awin approved my commission but did not send it.” The account may be operating normally while the commission waits to complete the payment process.
Awin issues earnings after they reach payable status. Payments are normally run on the 1st or 15th, with non-working-day adjustments described in its payment guidance.
Check the selected payment threshold
Awin’s documented minimum payment thresholds are:
| Currency | Minimum threshold |
|---|---|
| USD | $20 |
| GBP | £20 |
| EUR | €20 |
| Other currencies | Equivalent of $20 |
The account holder may select a higher threshold.
For example, a US publisher with $74 in payable commission will not receive payment when the account is configured with a $100 threshold. Awin’s $20 minimum does not override the publisher’s saved selection.
Check the account setting first. Skip contacting the bank when the payable balance remains below the chosen amount.
Awin identifies Payment Threshold as the minimum balance required before a payout is triggered.
Why payment details may be inaccessible
Awin requires active two-step verification before a publisher can access Payment Details. It also states that only the account owner can edit those details.
Two-step verification uses another authentication factor, such as a temporary code from an authenticator application, in addition to the password. Awin’s updated documentation says Payment Details cannot be accessed without active 2SV.
That produces a common wrong diagnosis: the publisher believes the bank-details page is broken when the account’s security requirement is incomplete.
Activate 2SV first. Skip repeated attempts to edit payment information before that requirement is satisfied.
Awin also recommends that users with editing permissions, including Owner, Admin, and Full Access roles, activate two-step verification.
Review Payment History, not only earnings
The dashboard’s payable balance shows commission scheduled for payment when it meets the account threshold. To determine whether Awin has already processed a payment, the company directs publishers to Reports > Payment > History and advises checking for a self-billing invoice.
Awin’s Payment Report contains more than a total. Payment History can show the processing date, payment period, method, amount, and transactions included in each payment.
It also provides an Unpaid Commissions view containing approved transactions with unpaid commission across the publisher account’s history.
Use that report when approved commission appears to have stalled. It separates unpaid approved activity from money already included in a completed payment.
A practical troubleshooting order
Follow this sequence:
- Confirm that the correct Awin account is open.
- Check membership in the relevant advertiser program.
- Open the Transactions report.
- Correct the date basis and filters.
- Search the order reference and transaction ID.
- Open the Sale Amount breakdown.
- Submit a Transaction Query only when the discrepancy fits an available query type.
- Check whether commission is pending, approved, or payable.
- Compare payable commission with the selected threshold.
- Review Reports > Payment > History for a self-billing invoice.
This order separates four different problems: missing tracking, disputed validation, unpaid commission, and a processed transfer that has not arrived.
Keep the support request factual. Identify the advertiser, date, order reference, transaction ID, visible status, and the official steps already completed.
